Placer Arts League meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of every month.Tuesday, May 6, 6:30 PM at The Arts Building, 808 Lincoln Way, Auburn. Bill Peters, woodcarver. Call to Artists: Placer Arts League invites artists to participate in an Open Juried Show at the Umpqua Art Gallery in Lincoln. Submit 1 to 3 works of art. Entry fees: $10 each or $25 for three. Categories: oil & acrylic; watercolor; pastel; 3D sculpture; drawing, pen & ink, & charcoal; and digital & photography. Receiving by hand delivery on Tues., May 13th 9:30am to 1pm at Umpqua Bank. Placer Arts League & Sierra Foothills Potters GuildPlacer Arts LeagueThe Placer Arts League (PAL) is a group of active visual artists who meet regularly for fellowship, artist presentations and demonstrations on a variety of media and art-related topics. The league’s charter is to support and educate local artists, encourage emerging artists and provide opportunities for exhibition and sale of members’ work. League artists range from award-winning professionals to novices, working in a variety of 2D and 3D media. Many experienced members offer classes in their respective areas of expertise. The oldest arts organization in the Auburn area, PAL now thrives as a program of PlacerArts, providing artist resources to support the council’s many fine arts programs and extending its reach to include a wide variety of fine artists in the county. Are you a Placer County artist? Join the Placer Arts League to enjoy the camaraderie, artistic support and exhibit opportunities available to members of this supportive league. For information, email office@placerarts.org. PAL News: Open Juried Show Slated for May at Umpqua Bank GalleryPAL members are invited to begin planning for our first juried show in several years. The PAL sponsored open-to-all artists event will be taking place on Tuesday, May 13, with delivery of paintings to the Umpqua Bank Gallery, 571 5th Street, Lincoln from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Judging will take place through 3:00 PM that day, and then unaccepted work may be picked up between 3:00 and 5:00 PM. All Placer County artists working in the six categories of: oil & acrylic, watercolor, pastel, 3D (sculpture & jewelry), drawing, and digital/photography are invited. The judge will be Reno’s Norma Fowler www.normasart.com. Entry fees are 1 entry: $10; 2 entries: $20.00; 3 entries: $25.00 Monetary prizes and ribbons will be awarded in all six categories. Sierra Foothills Potters GuildThe Sierra Foothills Potters Guild is a subgroup of the Placer Arts League, offering opportunities for members to participate in workshops, sell their art and increase awareness of clay art in the area. PlacerArts and the Sierra Foothill Potters Guild, in cooperation with Lincoln Arts, present ClayFest 2008 on Saturday, May 3. ClayFest is a celebration of the Lincoln community and its long history of clay, and provides a venue for ceramic artists from throughout the regions to display and sell their wares. ClayFest takes place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, May 3 at Beermann Plaza in downtown Lincoln, CA.
