World Music Day: Auburn 2011

5 - 9pm, Saturday June 18

Auburn will join over a hundred countries worldwide to host World Music Day from 5 to 9pm on Saturday, June 18 in several locations in Downtown and Old Town Auburn.

World Music Day is a worldwide free, live music celebration where amateur and professional musicians perform in public places. World Music Day, or Fete de la Musique, began in France on June 21, 1982, as a spontaneous event to bring people out on the streets to play and enjoy music.

World Music Day: Auburn, 2011 is offered in cooperation with Family Night Out. The following musicians will perform along Lincoln Way in the locations listed below.

Beth Gillogly - musical activities with kids at Chalk-a-Lot
Community Drum Circle - Gold Country Mall lobby on Lincoln Way
Evan Zee - original music at Pioneer Methodist Church
Fire in the Kitchen - bluegrass music in The Arts Building
Gary Bowman - original songs celebrating nature at Chapel of the Hills
Jazz Gitan - hot gypsy jazz in front of the State Theater
Old West Trio - western music on the porch of the Promenade
Tepid Club of Cool - swing music on the steps of City Hall
Todd Morgan & the Emblems - rockin' soul at East Placer and High
Wild Duck with Eric Chun, Kathie Rollins and friends - Clock Tower
