Summer is a few months away and soon our gardens will be filled with flowers! Gain hands-on experience in creating beautiful botanical candles.

Creating candle art starts with selecting and arranging pressed flowers for your design. We will supply you with flowers and foliage to choose from. You will learn how to harvest and press your own flowers at home! Embedding floral into candles is fun, and you will learn a technique that can be done from your own home.

You will create and take home a botanical pillar candle and a candlestick.
Note: In late summer and fall we can collect flowers from local fields for these candles. Flowers would need to be press dried.

Politically Charged | August 31 - October 12
Amidst the fervor surrounding the upcoming 2024 presidential election, we stand at a pivotal moment in our nation's history. We believe that it is crucial to create a space for productive and thought-provoking discussions about the future of our country. In this bold exhibition, we encourage artists from all disciplines to explore the curiosities that bud from the current state of American politics. We are interested in the diverse narratives that come from art making in our contemporary political landscape.

Through your artistic reflections, we hope to harness the power of creativity to ignite conversations, challenge perspectives, and identify common threads. In embracing this taboo theme of politics, we are asserting and strongly believe that art has the potential to transcend ideological boundaries and stimulate dialogue that can drive our community forwards.

Tips and Tricks of Watercolor Painting with Ronnie Rector

Tips and Tricks of Watercolor Painting with Ronnie Rector

Oct 19, 6:00pm - Oct 20, 12:00am

8731 N Lake Blvd, Kings Beach, CA, United States, California 96143 Map

In this class, you will learn about watercolor washes, layering for values, controlling water and pigment, various ways to create texture and save those whites, photographing and framing tips, how to enter exhibits, and more! We will work on small sample pieces for each technique, with room for your notes and experimentation, while progressing through a painting of your own. This is a great class for all skill levels.

Bio
I have been painting for a few years now, starting after a watercolor workshop in October 2008. I discovered I have a bit of talent with this medium and am absolutely in love with it, how colors mix in water, how they can fight with each other, what salt (or Chardonnay) do to a wash! I cannot say I’m self-taught, as I’ve had the honor of taking workshops from some pretty amazing artists, including John Salminen, Paul Jackson, Jeannie Vodden, Charles Reid and Gerald Brommer. I love sharing what I’ve learned with fellow artists.
